On good or better going, there
are spreads of results in races of 8 to 10 runners.
In races of 11 to 16 runners, the Top 6 stalls won 17 of 25 races 68%.
On good/good
to soft in places or softer going, results are
spread in races of 8 to 11 runners, and 14 runners.
In races of 15 and 16 runners, the Top half of the draw won 25 of 30 races
83%.
The Bottom half won 3 races, and 2 results, 8 of 15, were dead Centre.
There is no recommendation over this long distance.
There is a right hand looping bend of more than 180 degrees shortly after the
start in these races, which may favour those drawn High to some extent.
In theory, judging by the pattern on the chart :-
In small fields, this may not be a problem for jockeys drawn Low (away
from the rail), results are spread across most stalls.
As field sizes increase,
there could be traffic problems, shown by less wins from Low numbered stalls..
If drawn away from the rail in Low numbered stalls :-
It looks as if there are difficulties in
making up lost ground, if dropping in behind early in the race, or difficulties
lasting home if putting in an early effort from Low stalls to secure a good position round the
bend.
This could be accentuated on softer going, but only as field sizes approach the
maximum.
2006 results :- 2-8, 5-8,
8-9, 5-12,
11-12, 12-12,
3-15, 8-15
