Horse racing draw advantage bias
Both the Rowley course and the July course are sometimes split in half using a temporary running rail.
Races are then run on either the Low half of the course, or the High half of the course.
At present, there is no indication in race returns of this course splitting.
I would guess that in general, results showing Low positioning of the stalls will mainly be run on the Low half of the course, and races with stalls positioned High, will mainly be run on the High half of the course.
Results with stalls Centre could have taken place on either the Low half of the course or the High half of the course.
As described in the Racing Post's "Top Draw" feature, the stalls can be positioned in 6 different places due to course splitting.
High, Low and Centre on the Low half of the course, and High, Low and Centre on the High half of the course.

It is important to remember that this course can be split.
Check that the stalls are placed Low, on the Low (stands ) side of the course to make best use of the draw in these races.
There appears to be a faster strip of ground close to the Low rail on the stand's side of the course, but interestingly, only 1 horse has won from stall 1 in the last 10 years.
In 5F races, this advantage does not appear to be as strong, but over 6F the trend is looking very consistent.
As the number of runners increases and horses probably race wider towards the Centre of the course, and there are more traffic problems, results spread to higher stalls.
On good or better going, Stalls 1 to 6 won 19 of 38 races.
The Top 6 stalls won 15 races.
1 winner was drawn dead centre.

Stalls Low.  On good or better going in races of 8 - 13 runners,
stalls 1 - 6 won 15 of 17 races 88 %.

Before the 2005 results were added, there was a promising pattern developing from the Top 6 stalls.
On good or better going, in races of 8 to 18 runners, the Top 6 stalls won 9 of 13 races.
During 2005, there were 3 wins in 4 races from stalls 1 to 4 under those conditions.
In 2006, the only qualifying race was won from 16 of 18 runners.
On good or better going, the Top 6 stalls won 13 of 25 races.
Stalls 1 to 6 won 8 races.
2 winners were drawn dead centre.

Realistically, results are now spread across most stalls, and this pattern must be considered inconsistent.
On good/good to soft in places or softer going, results are also spread across most stalls.
There is no recommendation.
